How to style your favourite white T-shirt

Is there anything more versatile than a plain white T-shirt? Sure, we have our trusty LBDs and favourite, worked-in jeans we default to when we’re looking for something tried and true, but the white T-shirt is really your true closet hero.

Stocking up on this staple is a must, especially when you discover the multitude of ways you can style it. There are a lot of different fits and price points out there, so the best thing to do is try and try (on) again. You don’t necessarily have to spend a bundle on a big brand name when mass retailers also carry this wardrobe basic.

So, whether for the weekend, your workday or somewhere in between, here’s some of my favourite outfit ideas for the season!

Swap out your blouse and wear it with a suit

I love this look, and it reminds me of those pretty French girls who always look understated while beautifully polished at the same time. Go for a fit that’s soft and slightly sheer to balance the structured silhouette of your suit and — if it were me — I wouldn’t tuck the whole T-shirt into my trousers. Instead, I’d just tuck in one side so the rest casually drapes around my waist. That has a certain nonchalance that I find really intriguing.

Buy a men’s white t-shirt to tuck into a high-waisted skirt

Who doesn’t love the mix of feminine and masculine in a look? I love the look! Size up in a men’s white T-shirt (you want volume here), roll up the sleeves (to look more femme) and tuck into one of your best high-waisted or slim, pencil skirts. I love the juxtaposition of proportion.

White on white

Now’s the season to wear your white jeans, so go for a monochromatic look by pairing them with your white tee. Add a white kitten heel or your favourite cool kicks for a head-to-toe ensemble that really looks quite luxe.

Layer it under a tank, camisole or slip dress

The ‘90s vibe continues to stick around this season and I think layering a tee under a tank, silk camisole or a slip dress is still a great street style look that can be fun for any age.
