Spring 2021 Fashion Trends

Elevated basics, quality and versatility are the key spring fashion trends for the season ahead.

Athleisure ruled us in 2020, and with good reason: We wanted supreme comfort while we were locked down at home, but many of us are ready to emerge from our jogging suits and workout gear to wear something that feels celebratory and sophisticated.

This doesn’t mean we have to overhaul our entire wardrobes and spend a small fortune on a whole new style; instead, this is more about finding better options that can actually create more loos with effortless style.

Here are some of the items I’m adding to my shopping cart that embrace the spring 2021 fashion trends!

Fantastic florals

Flowers signify many things, but one theme I love is the idea of renewal and new beginnings, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that many of the runways were replete with floral patterns in riotous colours. From Rodarte to Erdem, designers mixed florals head-to-toe. Fashion brands like Zara and H&M are jumping in on the trend, too!

Peek-a-boo skin

Showing a little skin feels liberating after a winter season (and lockdown!) spent in oversized, bulky sweats. From turtlenecks to dresses and jumpsuits, designers and brands are finding inventive and sophisticated ways to show a little skin.

Wide-legged pant

Wide-leg pants ruled the runways at Chanel and Louis Vuitton, and I love how fresh a looser trouser shape feels. They’re more versatile than skinnier or snug fits because the relaxed pants silhouette can be dressed up or down with virtually anything in your closet. Comfort is also something to consider, especially because we’re now so accustomed to wearing clothes that are fuss-free and adaptable to our new lifestyles. There is something undeniably cool and polished about a wide-legged denim or pleated cotton pant.

Barely there

Let’s shed all of those winter wools and dense fabrics for spring’s lighter-than-air sheer pieces! You don’t have to go as bold as Dior did, but you can play with sheers and underpinnings that offer you the coverage that makes you comfortable. A transparent layer over a full-coverage slip dress is an idea I’m really loving lately!

Spring shades

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the sun is shining I feel an urge to pick up a new pair of sunglasses. Obviously, there are hundreds of styles to choose from, but I’m really gravitating towards sturdier frames in new colours. I just discovered Tol Eyewear (crafted in Italy) and am “eyeing” the Laser in Burgundy. Gorgeous!
