How to manifest the life you want

We all have dreams. We all have things we want to experience and gain in life, but do we know how to achieve them? Manifestation and other self-care practices like meditation, journaling, and positive thinking have gained momentum during COVID-19. When we experienced a world in which everything was stripped away from us, we had to find ways to keep the hope alive and recognize that life continues with possibilities for us all. By definition, manifestation is about making your dreams come true through belief, clarity, and efforts. Its power centre is in the way you think, how clear you are with your intentions, and the energy you give into the Universe.

Sure, it sounds hokey, and while there may be some cynicism in this practise, it has been proven to work – really and truly work. Thought leaders like Oprah, Deepak Chopra, and Eckhart Tolle are all prominent believers and support the process of manifestation. So, shall we give it a shot? Here’s a 101 primer I found helpful in manifesting the life you want.

Know Yourself

This is a big one. Before you can even begin manifesting what you want in your future, you have to look at your present. Do you understand yourself? Do you know what you want exactly? Most of us have a vague idea, but what do you want out of your life when put to the test? To know what goals to make, you need to know who you are first. Ask yourself reflective questions; write down a list of what you wish for in life ahead, and don’t feel pressured to follow societal cues on how you’re meant to live your life. This is all about your fundamental needs as a human being on this planet. Be patient, and the answers will come.

Be Clear on Your Values

Now that you understand yourself, it’s time to set your values, and you must be as specific as possible here. For example, say one of your manifestations is owning a house. Don’t just wish for the overarching “theme” of owning a house, but think specifically: What kind of house, what will it look like, how big? Envision your exact home in your mind, down to what room you imagine you would read your book in. The more specific you are, the stronger the manifestation will be.

Put it out into the Universe

A big part of manifestation is understanding that you collaborate with the Universe on a common goal. Put it out there and keep it in your view daily. Whether you write it down in a journal or a sticky note, create a vision board, or write it with lipstick on your mirror, all of it works. It’s about moving your manifestations from inside your head to outside in the world so the Universe hears and accepts it.

Be Consistent

I’ve read a lot about this, and the truth behind manifestation is staying at it. There is no fast road to success – manifestation is designed to support you as you move towards your goal, but it’s not the singular force. Now that you have your dreams laid out before you, you now make a plan to achieve them. Break down your goals into small steps and work towards them daily. The power in consistent efforts will be rewarded.

Believe

Again, this isn’t an overnight success – manifestation practices can sometimes take years to form. Avoid inundating yourself with negative and limiting thoughts and remind yourself of what’s important to you. If you don’t believe in yourself or what you want, this won’t work. It starts with believing you deserve whatever you want in your life.

Remember to be Thankful for Small Wins

Remind yourself of what you have (which is pretty great already) and try not to take the present for granted. We always yearn for more – it’s part of the human condition – but we mustn’t get fixated on what we need over what we have. Celebrate your life and what you achieve now.
